What would be your reaction to being informed that you are quite literally older than dirt? (And yes you will have to explain what dirt actually is) Would you cry? I still am. Would you feel ill? Would you instantly tuck your toes under the safety of a quilt; knowing full well that the monsters from under the bed can’t get you if you’re under the shield of a down comforter? Or would you do as I did? Get furious and start a big ol’ hissy fit sized war…<br />40,000 years after Earth’s demise we are still trying to settle. That’s what the survivors are called now, settlers. Survivor, by the way, is derogatory word. So are words like gadget, computer, and machine. Those are people. We evolve into them, and something in the mechanics that make up a human is killing. Killing our species off faster than the enemies we have made along our 40,000 year old journey.<br />That’s where I come in, not intentionally mind you, but forcibly by our distant descendants. You would follow him too, anything to get him to relieve the bruising on your wrists from his chains or the uncanny way of belittling you he has every time he speaks. Not to mention that his entire demeanor visually lists a million ways he could kill you. I’m their best bet in finding a cure. They could be a little more hospitable, a little less white coat-ish, and they could offer a tissue when telling you that your family, job, hairdresser, and newspaper boy are all dust. But they don’t. So you compromise; you study your home and translate children’s books for scientists who cannot read its written language in hopes of curing their diseased parts, and in return they back you up when you start a war to end all wars on their front lawn. Sounds fair, right?</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Merriweather, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 21px; text-align: left;"> </span></div>

<br />
<br />
This weeks "Try It", is the deluge of Root Beer BBQ Pulled Pork recipes for the crock pot I have been reading on Pinterest, in magazines and every where. With a few tweaks of my own to many recipes, this crock pot version is a thumbs up!<br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;"> 3 lb pork roast</span><br /><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;">1 can (12 oz,) Root Beer</span><br /><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;">1 chopped onion</span><br /><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;">1 cup barbecue sauce</span><br /><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;">1 Tablespoon brown mustard</span><br /><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;">1/4 cup brown sugar</span><br /><span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "georgia" , serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;"><br /></span></span></b>
<br />
<div class="instructions" style="font-family: 'century gothic', Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 20px;">
<b>
I started by searing all sides of the
pork in a frying pan before putting the roast in my crock pot with the chopped onions. Then pour root beer over the pork roast.<br />Cover and cook on low until fully cooked and it falls apart. I cooked mine about 8 hours.<br />Drain most of the root beer. I left maybe 1/2 cup.<br />Using two forks, shred the pork.<br />Stir in the barbecue sauce, brown mustard and brown sugar and
keep warm on low in the crock pot. Serve on rolls of your choice. </b></div>
<div class="instructions" style="font-family: 'century gothic', Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 20px;">

A Mango will make my taste buds smile every time. Mango smoothies in the am, mango slices for a snack, mango chutney on chicken...you get the idea, I am a fan.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought I would try one more time, I have many failed attempts under my belt, to take the mango seed and grow a tree. Mango...seed to garden.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After devouring my mango fruit I cleaned the seed and set it to dry on the window edge. two days later it was dry and I could "crack" it open and harvest the seed inside the husk.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiriuhMKDRtu-N2Dyx1eR9qrXrfGX8qmBS_qbq-zHKP_9wviOcBZkE7rk1iX9u9VENhk0I69iqgVd0pYmeLNLIIXpj95B68Z57Rc_7p2FxJtqhjE_gtxTqR3DDP0YSAuQHU23orx_iI6Ws/s1600/mango87.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiriuhMKDRtu-N2Dyx1eR9qrXrfGX8qmBS_qbq-zHKP_9wviOcBZkE7rk1iX9u9VENhk0I69iqgVd0pYmeLNLIIXpj95B68Z57Rc_7p2FxJtqhjE_gtxTqR3DDP0YSAuQHU23orx_iI6Ws/s320/mango87.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next step was simple, I wrapped the seed pod in wet paper towels and put in a sealed zip lock bag. The seed pod went into a dark cabinet and I checked to make sure the paper towel stayed damp and waited patiently for signs of growth. One week later I was surprised I had started a mango!</div>

Is there any aroma in the world that smells as good as fresh baked bread wafting through your kitchen on a rainy and cold afternoon? Not...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love homemade bread. Multi grain bread tops my must gobble up baked bread list. Multi Grain is easy peasy with Red Mill 7 Grain hot cereal or their Hot Cereal Muesli multi grain with raisins etc. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Nothing beats smooth, cheesy macaroni and cheese for comfort food. We do healthy versions when possible now. Or we try to do the healthier version : ) Just cutting the pasta out and replacing with fresh cauliflower qualifies as healthier for me. Fresh cauliflower florets are the base of my new comfort food. Add in the smooth, creamy cheese sauce and it is a perfection.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The healthier version of Cauliflower "Mac and Cheese" gets a thumbs up from all at the table tonight!</div>

<br />
I know, I disappeared for a bit. Months. So without excuses, the last post led to more home improvements. Which led to selling our home. New job for DH. New home in a new state to go with that new job. Hit reset with the home improvements with our new home, beginning after the holidays. I am still unpacking and will be back after the holidays. <br />
<br />
All the best of this season to you and yours,<br />

As I posted a few weeks ago, I painted the master bedroom ceiling. Which started the renovation projects in the master bedroom. Who knew it would lead to the connected bathroom. So when you ask in the future, where is that lady from<br />
<i>The Moonlight Factory blog</i>,<br />
you will know I am MIA again due to<br />
"the ceiling made me do it episodes"<br />
and most likely it is something from the photo below leading me to the next project.<br />

Don't judge...I don't have a sister named Cinderella to do the floors. I <i>do </i>have two huge Bernese Mountain Dogs that love to play in mud and then dance on the kitchen floor.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Time for Cinderella's Floor Cleaning Recipe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sprinkle baking soda in the grout lines. Add white cleaning vinegar over baking soda, watch it foam up the dirt. This is what it looked like after foaming and a swipe with mop. Imagine how good it will look if I take the scrub brush to it next time and then reseal it.</div>

Whew, I have been neglecting posting on The Moonlight Factory blog. Why? Well, it started out simple enough. I was going to paint the ceiling in our bedroom. That highlighted the fact the walls needed a fresh coat of paint. Then naturally, the floors. Enter bamboo flooring. So much fun to install. French doors for the closet. New I Comfort mattress and a base to rise and vibrating zero gravity controls...of course this piece heaven deserved a new wrap around bed frame and night stands...</div>

I love the smell of fresh bedding, crisp and smelling of sunshine from drying on a line outdoors, don't you? *Sigh, this is New York, the middle of February, snow blizzards daily, way too far below zero temperatures outdoors to have that simple pleasure...so I went to the stand by dryer sheets. And then my dryer seemed to be taking longer to dry a load of laundry. Maybe I should call the repair man and bite the bullet on expensive repair bill. Instead, I pull out dryer vent and clean it off, I always do this after every load, no problem. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn69yeXXNcFm50ACH5iasX5iUFZenLyfPIVrnyWjQN0ISVd6BE3R80IQB4THkOl8S3odxCbiH-RCdY3hUP6kF4u0a9A40hpO4uPi24Dv-QjGeGzNDTNhmPQzYTMdlezw7mG1PIFVfx9zE/s1600/dryer+filter+fire+hazard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn69yeXXNcFm50ACH5iasX5iUFZenLyfPIVrnyWjQN0ISVd6BE3R80IQB4THkOl8S3odxCbiH-RCdY3hUP6kF4u0a9A40hpO4uPi24Dv-QjGeGzNDTNhmPQzYTMdlezw7mG1PIFVfx9zE/s1600/dryer+filter+fire+hazard.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="text-align: center;"> Not certain if you can see, but the water made "puddles" on the screen today when I thought maybe a quick rinse would help with a super clean. For the love of fresh linen scent, I had forgotten all the warnings about dryer sheet build up blocking screen and becoming a fire hazard. Easy solution is a a scrub with Dawn dish detergent and retest water drainage. Presto! All set and dryer is working fabulous again!<script type="text/javascript">

<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
We are being held in the icy grip of ol' man winter in NY. For you that can, please send warm tropical breezes and sunshine ASAP. Brr...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This calls for a steamy bowl of homemade chicken soup and some of the best rolls you will ever melt butter on. Time for<b> Roll Call</b>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Dough Ingredients:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 cup milk (100 degrees - 110 degrees Fahrenheit)<br />
1/3 cup sugar<br />
2 packages fast acting yeast<br />
2 cups of flour<br />
2 egg yolks<br />
2 1/2 teaspoons salt<br />
2 tablespoons melted butter<br />
Combine all ingredients in bowl with dough hook. Allow to rest 10 minutes. Turn dough out on to floured board, knead dough until smooth. Put dough ball in a greased bowl, cover and allow to rest until double, approximately 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.<script type="text/javascript">

<b>No Goals...</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>No Resolutions...</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Just One Word. </b><br />
<b>A touchstone, a mantra for the year...</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some of you know I practice the Un-Resolution and made the choice to abandon the New Year Resolution treadmill years ago. A new tradition emerged and I wrote about the One Word Resolution here:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://themoonlightfactory.blogspot.com/2012/12/one-word_31.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #660000; font-size: large;"><b>One Word</b></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwTH-ewUVoIgm6dYt_FJqep1N8zE94GqeHW378QbPU8BnOHr14QKHUFF3CSjciEwr0RmC3Nv6Yblf9qZ3kGyMKkyMpPhjDWnUa7K0-kWkbOFSimF0W7RYpS2-BkNCpN_732qsojzXfaLs/s1600/New+Year+2015.jpg" height="122" width="320" /></div>
<br />
<b>My Word for 2015 is Embrace.</b><br />
Embrace<i> change</i> in a new season of life. Embrace the <i>adventures</i> waiting.<br />
I cannot wait to see what 2015 will bring!<br />
Do you engage in the tradition of a One Word Un-Resolution? What's your Word?<br />

I love cookbooks. My favorite cookbooks are the school, church or family favorites bound with a spiral coil. How can you go wrong, each cook and family proudly attach their family name in the little cookbooks...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYV81-gSwyYfuUqb_BN_fITezNSZad2HELIxJ444d-UXwUnH52s78f2WJ6Q9BoUeB4c3hl5HZdmWaabKT7eIVokIHa-prM8ULOSHNeHHzAKhMBvK5iXz1AlfK-H8llTCF0I-D0UxwN28/s1600/Fav+Recipe+Books.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYV81-gSwyYfuUqb_BN_fITezNSZad2HELIxJ444d-UXwUnH52s78f2WJ6Q9BoUeB4c3hl5HZdmWaabKT7eIVokIHa-prM8ULOSHNeHHzAKhMBvK5iXz1AlfK-H8llTCF0I-D0UxwN28/s1600/Fav+Recipe+Books.jpg" height="280" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I grew up with a Mom that loved all the wacky family recipe cookbooks also. After many years making this family recipe it no longer felt wacky and I embraced it whole heartily. Allow me to introduce you to:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Tuna Potato Chip Casserole</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>1 can tuna fish (drained)</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>1 can of sweet peas(drained)</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>1 bag of potato chips crushed (regular or ripple)save some for topping</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>1 can of cream of mushroom</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
Today I am giving a "makeover" to the family favorite macaroni and cheese. Replacing elbow macaroni with fresh cauliflower is a delicious alternative!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidkiVetMZXBIg8ehZRVAKQBRj5TvRfqPVDVW45n0gkuJ68maJn3lmHC9EsTC_53Cbmzk24gpB9m9hL3Oy6jlsp_Y0nqHKaFkR4iDc2qp4tsBb8MM_y3_-rp2t92rggP6vkIYXRpSZSXFA/s1600/Cauliflower+Mac+and+Cheese+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidkiVetMZXBIg8ehZRVAKQBRj5TvRfqPVDVW45n0gkuJ68maJn3lmHC9EsTC_53Cbmzk24gpB9m9hL3Oy6jlsp_Y0nqHKaFkR4iDc2qp4tsBb8MM_y3_-rp2t92rggP6vkIYXRpSZSXFA/s1600/Cauliflower+Mac+and+Cheese+2.jpg" height="232" width="320" /></a></div>
Melt a 1/4 cup butter in sauce pan. Add 1/4 cup flour to melted butter and whisk to blend. <br />
Add 2 cups milk and continue to whisk as sauce simmers. <br />
Add shredded cheddar and 2 ounces cream cheese. Whisk until smooth and blended. Remove from heat. <br />
Add fresh cauliflower to sauce. Put into greased casserole dish and add Ritz butter cracker crumbs to top of casserole. Bake in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 45 minutes or until cauliflower is soft and tender.<br />
