Turkey, Brie and Cranberry Puff Pastry Pockets

Winter has a firm grip here still, in spite of a Groundhog Day 2013 prediction of an early spring
from famed Ground Hog Phil of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania,
snow continues to fall and chilly winds blow.
So tonight's menu will include a warm
Turkey, Brie and Cranberry Puff Pastry Pocket Sandwich.

Start with a sheet of frozen Puff Pastry thawing on floured counter, approximately 40 minutes.
Roll out dough.
Cut into four equal rectangles.
Spread each rectangle with Brie spreadable cheese.
Add thin turkey slices.

Add on top of turkey a dollop of jellied cranberry sauce.
Pepper each rectangle on turkey also.
Fold over each restangle and use a fork to seal edges.

Make egg wash-egg and tablespoon of water whisked together.

Place each pocket on lightly oiled baking pan, brush with egg wash
and poke fork steam holes in each restangle.
Bake @400 degress for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Delicious!

Red Velvet Cherry Cake

Tonight's dessert with fresh coffee...Red Velvet Cherry Cake
I thought tonight we would go with a Pinterest inspired and easy cake.  The ingredients are in the pantry and this is a quick recipe start to finish.

Ingredients:  Red Velvet Cake Mix, 3 eggs, cherry pie filling and 1/4 cup oil.

Mix all ingredients together.

Pour into cake pan, cupcake liners.
I made a 8x8 cake and six cupcakes.
Bake @350 degrees 25-28 minutes until done.

Frost when cool.
Cream Cheese frosting was my choice.
Cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar mixed together.

Yum!

WHAT WOULD YOU ATTEMPT, IF YOU KNEW YOU COULD NOT FAIL?

This brought smiles and made me think.  What about you?
What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. -- Samuel Ullman

Cinnamon Scented Salt Hearts

I love the aroma of cinnamon.  Is there anyone that does not?  Today I am making some cinnamon scented salt aroma discs in the shape of hearts for a couple of room air freshener projects.  I wish you could experience the aroma of cinnamon filling my home from baking these cinnamon scented hearts.  With family arriving home soon, they may be giddy with delight expecting cinnamon rolls to match the aroma filling the rooms here : )
So here we go, simple, easy peasy how-to make
Cinnamon Scented Salt Hearts.
Start with 1 cup all purpose flour in your mixing bowl and 1/2 cup salt.
Blend together with 1/2 - 3/4 cup water.

Time for the aroma of cinnamon to be added to the mix.  I used 1/4 cup.

Mix it all together.

Dust counter with cinnamon to roll out dough.

Cut out hearts.

Bake @325 degrees for 1/2 hour.

Project #1
Mount birch bark to dollar store frame.

Add fresh baked hearts to bark.
I am adding you & me with a fine line marker to the large heart and hanging on the wall of my entry.

Pine cones and cinnamon scented salt hearts as my living room potpourri.
Can't go wrong with cinnamon scenting the house, can you....
